Is the black finish a coating that will wear off?
No. Unlike black gold or plated rings, the black finish on this zirconium band is not a coating, paint, or plating. It is a permanent, ceramic-like layer formed by heating the solid metal to extreme temperatures. Because it is part of the metal itself, it will not flake, chip, or peel off over time.
Can this ring be resized if my finger changes size?
Because zirconium is extremely hard and has a specialised oxidised finish, this ring cannot be resized using traditional jeweller methods. Cutting or heating the ring would destroy the black finish. We strongly recommend that you visit a local jeweller to be professionally sized before placing your order. Please verify your size using a wide sizer, as wider bands fit more snugly than thin ones.
Will the ring scratch?
Black zirconium is incredibly durable and highly scratch-resistant, much more so than gold, silver, or platinum. However, no jewellery metal is 100% scratch-proof. If the ring sustains a very deep scratch on an abrasive surface like concrete, it may reveal the natural grey-white colour of the zirconium underneath—similar to how the engraved knot pattern appears.
Is zirconium hypoallergenic? Will it turn my finger green?
Yes, zirconium is 100% hypoallergenic and biocompatible (it is often used in medical implants). It contains no nickel and will not cause skin irritation, rashes, or turn your finger green.
Is the ring heavy?
No. Zirconium is known for being incredibly strong yet very lightweight, similar to titanium. It is significantly lighter than tungsten carbide or platinum, making it very comfortable for all-day, everyday wear.
How do I clean and care for this ring?
Because of its durability, caring for this ring is simple. You can clean it with mild hand soap and warm water, drying it with a soft cloth. You do not need special jewellery cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, or polishing cloths.
